Lib Dem candidate Phil Hutty calls for change on 4 July
As the General Election campaign comes to an end, Liberal Democrat candidate Phil Hutty has said voters across Torridge and Tavistock are ‘ready for change’ and that he and his team are fighting for every vote.
Phil and the reenergised Liberal Democrats have been campaigning for action to tackle the cost-of-living crisis, the NHS crisis and the sewage scandal.
Phil says:
‘Throughout this election my team and I have spoken to thousands of people across Torridge and Tavistock and one thing is clear - people here are ready for change. They are disgusted with the Tories, but there is no appetite to vote Labour. They know that the Lib Dems have always been the main challengers here. Labour is not listening to the concerns of rural constituencies like ours. It is the Lib Dems who are ready to hold the new government to account.’
After coming second in the 2019 General Election, the Lib Dems have strengthened their position in local elections and now have thirteen District councillors across Torridge and West Devon. In Torridge, they are the largest political grouping.
The Lib Dem manifesto offers a bold and fully costed £9bn plan to tackle the health and care crisis, clean up sewage in our waterways, and put the economy back on track.
Phil, who is a senior social worker with over thirty years’ experience of public service in Devon, adds:
‘Every vote for the Liberal Democrats at this election is a vote to elect a strong local champion who will fight every day for our NHS and care.’
