The cost-of-living crisis – what Boris Johnson needs to know

6 Mar 2022

Members of the rejuvenated Bideford branch took to the streets on Saturday to ask the public what they would like to say to the Prime Minister about the cost-of-living crisis. Shoppers in Mill Street were invited to complete a postcard asking the Government take action on escalating fuel costs which the Lib Dems have calculated will cost Torridge households an extra £735 per year on average.

Northam Town Councillor Sam Newman-McKie said:

'The Government's complacency is astonishing. Next month, people will be faced with National Insurance and Council Tax rises on top of inflation and fuel costs which are already hitting them hard, yet our MP Geoffrey Cox doesn't seem to care! He should come to Bideford to hear what ordinary people have to say - though most of it is unprintable!'

The Lib Dems have published their own plans for tackling the cost-of-living crisis, funded by a windfall tax on the excessive profits of large energy companies.
